Profit motivated information has been submitted informally to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in an apparent attempt by a fluoropolymer chemical manufacturer seeking to discredit non-fire rated cable used in steel electrical metallic tubing (EMT) conduit to potentially increase demand for "plenum rated cable" or "other fire-rated cables to be installed in conduit." Preformed Line Products Announces Improved Financial Results
Net income for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 increased to $2,032,000, or $.38 per diluted share, compared to $883,000, or $.15 per diluted share, for the comparable period in 2005. Net sales in the fourth quarter 2006 were $51,765,000, an 11% increase from last year's $46,726,000. [Full Article]
SMP Participates In 10GBASE-T Validation Testing With Solarflare
The validation trials to demonstrate 10GBASE-T operation over Category 6A cabling were performed on a 100 meter channel. The trials were run in a 100 meter, worst-case channel configuration as specified in the draft TIA augmented Category 6 standard, currently under development in the TIA TR 42.7 subcommittee.
